Floromania
Turku Art Museum Aurakatu 26, Turku 29 January – 30 May 2010
The spring season starts with the first exhibition floor of the museum breaking out in bloom. Floromania showcases the vast variety of floral and vegetal themes in art from the Baroque to the present. The beauty of flowers has fascinated people throughout the ages, artists and scientists alike, and the language of flowers has a long history. Flowers and plants have been used to bear messages, and they are also full of symbolism. The exhibition explores the mysterious world of flowers mainly through works borrowed from the collections of the Art Museum of Estonia. Greenery and floral splendour is also featured in craft objects on loan from mu-seum collections in Turku.
